Here my test setup:
- Hypothesis: "When I add the webtests.com certificate to my landing page in a prominent position, my leads will increase."
- Timing: Run it for at least 30 days to have significant data to make an informed decision.
- Changes: Do not change anything else during this time period, so only 2 variants.
- Significance: I'm aiming for a p value of less than 0.05 to have statistical significance.
I went to webtests.com and signed up myself.
For the implementation on my website, I asked my web developer to add it for me, as I'm only doing the consulting part. I have no development experience.
I gave him access to my account at https://app.webtests.com/, and my web developer added it centered to my home page right below the teaser box: https://marketing-optimieren.de/
The location is pretty prominent and according to my analytics tool, around 85% of my website visitors scroll a little bit, and so see the certificate.
Much better than expected! I actually checked how many people click on the button "Book free consulting" (this is my conversion goal for the data below) to get faster statistical significance and have more data available.
Version without certificate: In the testing period, I had 5904 visitors who have seen the version without certificate. They led to 198 conversions.
Version with certificate: This version with certificate was shown to 5952 visitors, and has seen 234 conversions. This means an increase in conversion rate of 17.23%! (p=0.0465)
